QUARTERLY ESTIMATES
- For the September quarter 2012, there were 68 disputes, 15 more than in the June quarter 2012.
- The number of employees involved in industrial disputes in the September quarter 2012 was 55,800, a decrease from 70,000 in the June quarter 2012.
- There were 110,000 working days lost due to industrial disputation in the September quarter 2012, an increase from 101,700 in the March quarter 2012.
- High numbers of working days lost were driven by large disputes in the Education and training and Health care and social assistance industries in September quarter 2012 and June quarter 2012.
- The Construction industry (44,700) and combined Education and training and Health care and social assistance industries (40,400) together accounted for 77% of the total number of working days lost in the September quarter 2012.
- The Construction industry had the highest number of working days lost per thousand employees (62.7) for the quarter.
YEAR ENDED ESTIMATES
- During the year ended September 2012, there were 221 disputes, 24 more than in the year ended September 2011.
- During the year ended September 2012, there were 301,800 working days lost compared with 214,400 in the year ended September 2011.
